My great-uncle William Lorimer Joyce he joined the 4th Battalion of the South Wales Border Regiment when war broke out in 1914. He died at Sangahun, Turkey on October 2nd 1917 having been taken to a POW camp where conditions were known to be terrible.  Before the war he had been a gardener and trained at Kew Gardens.  The documents relate to him being commemorated as a fellow Kew-ite and his name being on a memorial to the fallen in Kew Gardens that you can still see today.
